JEE Advanced- The dream exam that every student pursuing engineering wants to crack. But given that it's a national level exam and one of the toughest ones at that even considering other international level exams, and only the top qualifiers of JEE Mains are qualified to sit for it, it's tough competition.

As the JEE Advanced comes around the corner, even the well-prepared students start to worry and the pressure increases ten folds. At this moment, it's difficult for students to understand what to do and end up confused, thereby hindering their performance. It's really important to focus maintain mental discipline during this period. So what all measures should be taken to make the most out of the last few days? Let us see.

Prepare a Proper Routine

A survey shows that people who follow a regular schedule are more likely to succeed in their life and make it to their goals, as compared to the ones who don't. Following a good routine is beneficial and a good habit as well. Even though it's a bit difficult to manage in the beginning, once you get into the habit of following it, you will notice the changes in your performance. Focus completely on studying and fix your timings according to the schedule. This will increase your concentration as well.

Don't Learn anything New

Learning new things or clearing up backlogs will do you more harm than good. Starting a new chapter at this moment will break your focus on the parts you have already studied and hinder your pace of study. Just keep on solving more and more questions from the chapters you have studied thoroughly and of the types you are familiar with. Special attention should be paid to the chapters like Atomic Structure, Kinetic Theory of Gases and Thermodynamics part as they are common in both Physics and Chemistry and so it's like hitting two birds with one stone.

Practice Question Papers

Solving the question papers from the past years gives you an idea of the type and sequence of the questions asked in the exam. It also helps to you time your paper according to the exam duration. Another important aspect of solving previous year question papers is that you can analyze the questions and calculate the weightage of topics and prepare accordingly. Aside from the past year's questions, cities like Hyderabad have IIT-JEE coaching institutes that predict the questions that may appear in the paper and set the sample papers accordingly. Joining classes is way more effective than studying on your own all the time.

Don't Overexert Yourself

Students get into panic and study for extra hours during the last few days. Remember that the things studied in panic can't be retained for long and eventually be forgotten. Always keep your mind in a calm state and do not be hard on yourself. Relax, take the time to think about what you have studied to this date. This helps in retaining the concepts.

Analyze your Performance

Keeping track of your improvement is a part of growing up. Always check for the parts where your marks are being cut and try to improve upon them. Whenever you are stuck, always clear the doubts you have in mind. Keep on solving more and more numerical of the types you have already come across and do not forget to revise the theory as well because quite a few questions are completely theory based in the Advanced question paper.

Keep Yourself Physically Fit

Don't just keep sitting on the study table with the books for the entire day. Take short breaks, go for a stroll or a walk, do exercise or yoga in the morning, and meditation in the evening to keep the mind fresh and clean. Eat a properly balanced diet as getting nutrients is very essential for the body as well as the mind.

Stay Away from Self-Doubt

A really important aspect of a person that may decide his/her career is confidence. You should never doubt your capabilities and keep preparing for the exam steadily. Doubting oneself is disastrous and can negatively affect your scores even though you are well prepared. It sometimes happens that the exam papers start with tough questions and as the students read the very first question which is difficult to answer, they get scared and the fear carries in their minds for the entire duration of the exam. This might eliminate the students with a negative mindset at the very beginning even though they are well qualified for the exam.
