Just passed class 10th and decided on engineering? Or just entered class 11th and recently found out about JEE? If yes, this blog is the one for you.

IIT- A dream for every student pursuing engineering. IIT stands for the Indian Institute of Technology and is one of the best Engineering Colleges situated in India. There are a few people who dream to pursue engineering but do not dream of getting into this college after graduating High School.

Though, for getting into an IIT, one first needs to clear the JEE or Joint Entrance Examination. This exam is conducted in two parts- JEE Mains and JEE Advance. First, one needs to apply for Mains which is conducted by NTA. It is after qualifying the Mains that one becomes eligible to sit for Advance, which is conducted by IITs. The top qualifiers of the Advance are the ones who get a seat in some of the top colleges of India.

Did that scare you? Don’t worry. Even though it’s nowhere near easy, it isn’t as hard as people make it out to be. There are countless myths surrounding the IIT-JEE preparation that mislead the students at crucial points and endanger their chances of cracking the exam. Let’s look at the most common myths that students face dilemmas while preparing so that you can avoid them.

For Confirmed Selection in IIT, Move to Kota

It’s common knowledge that Kota, situated in Rajasthan, is a hub for JEE and NEET aspirants. A large number of students starting their 11th  move from their hometowns to Kota for studying. But what happens after that? Does every one of them get their dream college? The answer is obviously no. Though there are quite a few people who manage a good score, most of the students just end up becoming a part of the rat race. Few make their dreams come true while most of them just break down and lose all hope. Not to mention, the amount of money spent on tuition fees and other accommodations is quite high and not everyone can't manage it.

An Average Student Can’t Qualify for JEE

A terrible myth that discourages students from aiming for IIT-JEE is that an average student doesn’t have the aptitude for it. By no means is this true. 10th board’s marks don’t define your aptitude or your capability. A person getting  98% in 10th may not be able to crack the exam while another person getting a percentage in the 70s might just make it. A famous man once said, “Hard work beats talent if talent doesn’t work hard.” With proper guidance, hard work, determination, and confidence in oneself, anyone can clear the exam with flying colors.

Isolation from Social Life and other Activities

It is certainly true that one thing most difficult to find while preparing for the entrance examination is leisure time. But, that doesn’t mean completely isolating yourself from your friends and family. Studying hours is not exactly proportional to success. Studying for hours and hours straight simply leads to ineffective studying. Study for a few hours, take short breaks, stroll around in the neighborhood, go for a little jog or play some physical game like football or tennis, and spend some time with friends discussing your current problems or some other productive conversation. After a little relaxation, get back to studying. That’s the most effective and most productive way to study. Lack of physical activities is bad and can potentially lead to ill health. This, in turn, can affect mental health as well.

Tips and Tricks for JEE

JEE can’t simply be cleared on the basis of luck. Even though there are some tricks for making an educated guess while solving the multiple-choice questions, it is accompanied by a high risk of negative marking. Regardless of the tips and tricks, one can apply in the exam, in the end, maximum marks can be obtained only by properly studying ad solving the questions.

Rapid Studying for Last Few Months is Enough for IIT-JEE

No, no, and no. Even though it’s not impossible to crack JEE by studying seriously for the last few months, things aren’t as easy as they sound. Alongside competitive exams, a major part of the time goes away in preparation for board exams as well unless one isn’t repeating the year. Many students don’t consider this factor and end up confused during the last few months whether to focus on boards or on the entrance exam. It’s best to start the preparation early on and maintain a steady pace or a slowly increasing pace.

With this, you are well prepared for starting your IIT-JEE preparation. You may come across some other uncommon rumors and it’s best to consult a good senior or a teacher regarding those. Remember to follow your schedule and maintain a diary to keep a record of the progress you make. And most importantly, be confident in yourself and don’t lose hope. That’s it! Good luck!
