The pandemic is a challenging time and has made everyone push limits and find the best possible alternatives to keep the world going.  One of these alternatives is studying from home with the help of online classes and teaching.  The trend of learning with the help of apps and online portals has been in prevalence but gained importance in the year 2020 when the country went under lockdown and there is no other way to continue studies and save students precious time. Students are busy attending online classes but eyes are the ones who are suffering the most. Sitting in front of a screen for 6-7 hours a day strains the eyes and can lead to serious problems. There is no scope of missing these classes but there are different measures that can be taken by students to reduce the eye strain.  These include-

1. Adjusting the screen brightness- students can adjust the screen brightness and ensure that the brightness is neither too much nor too little because these situations are harmful.  Students should attend classes in a well-light room to ensure that the screen light doesn’t lead to much strain.

2. Massaging eyes- students should give their eyes a palm massage after intervals of time.  The warmth of palms can help them in relaxing the strained muscles of the eyes and can reduce the strain.  This can be done by simply rubbing the palms and placing them gently on closed eyes for relaxing the muscles.

3. Healthy diet- it is needless to mention that a healthy diet is important for healthy eyes. Students should ensure that they include green leafy vegetables, protein, and Vitamin A-rich food.  By doing so, students can strengthen the muscles of their eyes and thereby deal with the strain.

4. Taking breaks- students should take regular breaks while attending online classes to reduce eye strain.  These breaks can be simple short breaks that can help in giving your eyes a break. These breaks cannot be long ones, but students should spare 2-3 minutes while attending classes.

5. Maintaining a distance from the screen- students should make use of a table and chair to attend online classes to maintain a proper posture and regulate the distance between the screen and chair.  You can also use a bed table to attend classes and place it at a safe distance.

6. Avoiding unnecessary screen time- it is easier said than done, but students should not punish their eyes by spending too much time on their phones and tablets after attending classes all day long.  We understand that this is also an essential part of the day, but should be avoided as much as possible to give the eyes a chance to rest.

By following these simple tricks, one can reduce the strain that the ears have to bear.  Accepting the situation and making the best out of the same is what smart people do and thereby students should make complete use of studying from home models and learn the best!
