How to Score 140+

Split the chapters in physics into 3 buckets – Easy, Moderate, and Difficult. Tackle the easy chapters first and make sure you are thorough with them. These are easy chapters that can be mastered in the least time with minimal effort. Next are the moderate chapters. These are not extremely difficult chapters, but they require time and effort to perfect. Usually, there will be 15-20 questions from this section. Lastly is the difficult part – to master these lessons, you need to put in lots of work to master these chapters. From the easy and moderate sections, there will be 30-35 questions, giving you space to score 120-140 marks in the paper. But to score 140+, you need to master the questions in the difficult section too. Mastering difficult chapters is a differentiating factor that will help you stand apart from your peers.

Smart Strategies to Crack Physics

  • Some students study only a handful of chapters and usually, ignore the difficult chapters. Usually, in competitive exams such as NEET, the question paper design would be such that there will be easy-level questions from the most difficult chapters or non-important chapters. So, it is advisable to not leave any stone unturned.

  • Solve previous years’ questions – this is the most important part of NEET preparation. Many times, the NEET paper will have repeated questions from the earlier papers. And going through the previous year’s questions will help you cover most of the topics in the syllabus.

  • Prefer videos, not books – although reading will be easy for students, watching videos and learning will save time and help you learn the concept faster. There are numerous short videos on YouTube for the different topics in the syllabus, so make use of those.

  • Quality, not quantity – The recommended study material for physics is the NCERT textbooks for Classes 11 and 12. Along with this, the notes that you take during class hours will prove to be more useful than you think. These will come in handy even during your revision before the exam.

  • Use dimensional analysis – There are some questions in physics that can be answered simply by focusing on the dimension used rather than working out the whole problem, thereby saving time.

  • Solve the easy questions first – Once you receive the question paper, go through the questions before you being answering. This will help you get an idea of how many easy and difficult questions there are. Start solving the easy questions in the beginning. Attempting difficult questions in the beginning, will consume most of your time and you will be left struggling to even complete the easy ones at the end.

Most of all, during preparation, keep a calm and composed head. Losing your cool and getting nervous will only increase the stress.

We hope these tips and the list of chapters come in handy when you prepare for NEET Physics.

All the best
